Tim Walberg and the airplane flight that destroyed global warming

by: Eric B.

Tue Mar 25, 2008 at 22:22:30 PM EDT

Tim Walberg goes to Hillsdale and perhaps sensing a friendly audience, speaks his mind on global warming (quality warning).

What I’m saying is, when I read science, I read scientists editors who police equal on both sides that say there’s a cycle that significant warming that’s produced by human involvement and not just simple matter of fact national currents that take place in the cycle then I read on the other side an equal number at the very least that say just the very opposite that this something that’s gone on for eons, that we go through these cycles.

There is, of course, a big difference between the way people speak and the way they are supposed to write, but that doesn't excuse the underlying argument here ... that there are an equal number of scientists who don't think global warming is real, or that it's a matter of natural cycles.  Who is the one guy Tim Walberg cites?  This guy:

I'm not gonna hide that from you, this guy is a trooper. He's a free market person, a capitalist. He understands Putin, he understands Russia. But, he may say that we were in Prague dealing with the missile defense initiative. But over the course of the meeting with him the question came up about global warming and climate change. And he says, well, he says, I as you know I’ve written a book about that. Right now we are having it translated in English and I would hope that you would.

Who is this free market capitalist trooper who has written books about climate change just practically begging to be translated into English?

Find out below the fold!
Eric B. :: Tim Walberg and the airplane flight that destroyed global warming

The president of the Czech Republic.

How does he rebutt global warming?  Well, according to Tim Walberg, thusly:

And he said I was just in Nigeria for a meeting last week and he said in the process of less than 48 hours, I went through on two occasions, going and coming, degree changes of over 30 degrees almost happens (mumble, mumble) Celsius, and he smiled and says and once I got back I realize you know, hadn’t hurt me at all.  We’ve seen less than a two degree change in the last hundred years.

There you have it.  The president of the Czech Republic flew to Nigeria, and flew back home.  The difference in temperature was more than 30 degrees ... and somehow he managed to survive!  Case closed on mean old nasty global warming (expect to see him next week on Frank Beckmann's show).

By the way, if you've been following the latest knees-bent advancing about behavior on the part of the narrowing body of climate change skeptics, you already know about the president of the Czech Republic.  Since there really aren't any credible scientists left who are skeptical of climate change, they've resorted to politicians.  What special qualifications does this particular feller bring to the table?

They will not be able to absorb new technological standards required by the anti-greenhouse religion, their products will have difficulty accessing the developed markets, and as a result the gap between them and the developed world will widen," he wrote.

This ideology preaches earth and nature and under the slogans of their protection -- similarly to the old Marxists -- wants to replace the free and spontaneous evolution of mankind by a sort of central, now global, planning of the whole world," he added.

Environmentalism, not preservation of nature (and of environment), is a leftist ideology.... Environmentalism is indeed a vehicle for bringing us socialist government at the global level. Again, my life in communism makes me oversensitive in this respect.

See, he knows a commie when he sees one.

I cringe that a sitting Congressman would answer a question of science by alluding to the president of the Czech Republic ... rather than the American scientific community.

Speaking of which...

So, I think if you are asking that question, I’m saying we ought to do significant research where we let the private sector representing the private sector in research area’s (mumble, mumble) where the (mumble, mumble) public institutions in places like Michigan State or U of M, non the less the private sector area donors do the research to come up with this issue.  I’m not sure the tax payers ought to pay significantly for things like that.

And, we come to the part of the program where Tim Walberg declares war on the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration and also the National Aeronautic and Space Administration, both of which conduct climate change research on behalf of the American taxpayer.  T

Tim Walberg, the man who voted against Head Start, thinks that American taxpayers shouldn't be paying for research basic to the core mission of the of the National Weather Service, founded in 1870, and the (originally) United States Coast Survey, founded somewhat earlier by that blood enemy of our Founding Fathers ... Thomas Jefferson.  Tim Walberg is against funding research core to an agency founded by one of the Founding Fathers his peculiar strain of conservatism finds so dad-blamed important.

It's also worth noting that the man most prominent in bringing global warming to national prominence was not Al Gore (whose sanity the Czech Republic President once questioned), but James Hansen, a NASA researcher.  Tim Walberg doesn't just think taxpayers shouldn't pay for agencies created by Thomas Jefferson, but also the space program.

By the way, it is telling that Tim Walberg thinks that private sector funding would make any difference in what science tells us at the university level about global warming.  One assumes that if it told him something else he didn't like, he'd immediately begin agitating for the breaking apart of the university system (which one suspects he'd like to see anyway).

great diary
Excellent timing for Tim with the Wilkins Ice Shelf breakup on the news this am. See a nice picture here  courtesy of a University - lol
Antarctica's massive Wilkins Ice Shelf has begun disintegrating under the effects of global warming, satellite images by the University of Colorado's National Snow and Ice Data Center showed.

What would Eleanor Roosevelt do?

...the ardent capitalist who is president of the Czech Republic survived a 33-degree change in temperature.

Commies!  Commies everywhere!

I've been waiting for this for a long time, and almost got a chance to ask Walberg in person about global warming a while back. I knew he wouldn't disappoint.

Thanks for this. I'll be linking to this on Walberg Watch later today, along with some other posts now that I'm healthy enough to get out of bed again (ah, the flu...).

wow, the GOP's diabolical plan
to drive us liberals so crazy that we'll all want to drive railroad spikes into our skulls.  Jeez, the depth of the GOP's stupidity is bottomless.
