| I've been meaning to track this down the last couple of days, but got really, really busy. So, thanks to Todd Heywood at Michigan Messenger for moving the story along. When Michigan Liberal's Eric Barren reported the new office, the Trott Financial Center, is located at 31440 Northwestern Highway, Suite 100, Farmington Hills; his post identified the owner as Trott & Trott. In fact the property is owned, according to Famington Hills city property records online, by NW13, L.L.C. The agent for contact on this company is Paul Stodulski. Crain's Detroit Business reports Trott & Trott is a majority owner of the building, along with Stodulski.
Indeed, when Michigan Liberal's Chanupi was helping me track down ownership the other night, we came across this very information but didn't have time to further pursue it. The name NW13, LLC did come up as the owner, and despite the Crain's reporting that Trott & Trott owned a majority of the building, it wasn't something I was really comfortable making a giant stink about. Today, I came across some SEC records that say, "No, go ahead and make a stink about this." David Trott, president of APC, is also the managing attorney of Trott & Trott. The Company’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Lawyers Weekly Inc., and APC lease office space from a partnership, NW13 LLC, a majority of which is owned by David Trott.
How much? Potentially as much as 75 percent (it says it's an excerpt from other SEC records, but they could be lies, damn lies, or merely statistics). APC currently sub-leases approximately 9,000 square feet in suburban Detroit, Michigan, from Trott & Trott for $19.42 per square foot under a lease terminating August 31, 2007, and sub-leases 2,797 square feet from Wolverine I, Inc., an affiliate of Feiwell & Hannoy, in Indianapolis, Indiana, under a sublease that terminates on March 23, 2008. Commencing on April 1, 2007, APC began leasing approximately 25,000 square feet in suburban Detroit, Michigan, from NW13, LLC, a limited liability company in which Mr. Trott owns 75% of the membership interests, ...
In short, McCain's regional campaign headquarters is located in a building owned by a LLC that is owned in the majority, according to SEC documents from just last year, by one of the state's leading attorneys representing banks and mortgage holders in the matter of throwing people out of their homes. |
