A Party for Change...

by: chanupi

Fri Aug 29, 2008 at 15:40:33 PM EDT

Last night's speech was amazing.

About 20 people showed up to my backyard last night, not to watch the speech, but to listen. We were a community including young and old, but all connected. We were there for change.

More on the flip:

Last night we sat around the campfire and waited. We drank some, then we waited some more. We actually had a live speech by an Obama "surrogate". Chelsea Nesbitt is the Field Organizer for Obama here in Mt Pleasant stopped by and gave her inspirational speech.

MichiganLiberal sponsored the event and helped with refreshments:

Finally the man came on the radio we had, and we listened. The campfire crackled, a gentle breeze blew, and Barack Obama laid out his case for a better America.

And here is our tribute to change:

Here's the aftermath:

Good times, good times.

I was going to play a little game of "Locate the boy in the photo," but I can't find him my-own-self.

You should have included a photo of the tomato plants.

I didn't know that people could still buy Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer.  It's been around for a long time!

Funny you should bring that up... (4.00 / 2)
Most of the refreshments for the evening actually came courtesy from the local brewpub, and the PBR, which functions as a cheap stand-in for decent beer, was there to supplement everything else on hand.

The Obama field person told a story related to PBR and buying American, but I hate to divulge someone's personal history without consent.

didn't know it was still out there. I think I drank it one back in the 70's when I turned 18 and that was enough of that.

PBR has taste. (0.00 / 0)
For cheap beer, it's the only way to go.

The light beers are all carbonation and water.

Was the cheap beer of choice(even cheaper than Old Milwaukee) when I was at CMU in the late 70's.
