Upcoming News Event: Detroit Health Care Summit

A health care summit has been scheduled in Detroit for October 9th.

The goal of the summit is to "test the feasability" of the Obama and McCain health care proposals.

For the enterprising reporter, it's a great story opportunity.

There are national and local experts (and "medical busainess" and non-profit leaders) to be heard and potentially interviewed, there's networking to be done...and best of all, registration for the event is free.

The "Health Coverage in America: Understanding the Issues and Proposed Solutions" confrence will be held Thursday evening, October 9th (6 -8 PM) at the Detroit Marriott Hotel.

The Michigan Cover the Uninsured Network is hosting the event.

The available experts?

According to the press release, Nancy Schlichting, who runs the Michigan Health and Hospital Association and is President/CEO of Henry Ford Health System, Battle Creek's former Republican Congressman Joe Schwartz, Henry J Aaron of the Brookings Institution, and Marianne Udow-Phillips, who runs the Center for Healthcare Research Transformation in Ann Arbor.

The moderating chores are to be handled by Ron Dzwonkowski, the Editorial Page Editor of the Detroit Free Press.

The press release reports that about 250 are expected to attend, and Beaumont Hospitals, Divided We Fail, Molina Healthcare, and the Michigan AFL-CIO are expected to send representatives to the event.
