With Expenses Like This...

no wonder the McCain campaign didn't have any money for Michigan.

The Republican National Committee has spent more than $150,000 to clothe and accessorize vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her family since her surprise pick by John McCain in late August.

Because, according to Politico, mavericks wear $500 Ferragamo shoes, and spend $49,000 at Saks Fifth Avenue and $75,000 at Neiman Marcus. So tell me again that Barack Obama is the elitist. What they've spent at Saks and Needless Markups is way more than your average plumber makes in a year.

If the McCain campaign is spending this kind of money on "wardrobe expenses" for Gov. Palin then no wonder they don't have money to compete in a state like Michigan. Being fiscally prudent isn't one of their strengths.

Maybe the expression should be (4.00 / 3)
"Ferragamos on a pig"?

Princess Sparklepony has a fabulous fashionista dissection of Caribou Barbie's RNC-funded shopping spree.

Chauvinism (4.00 / 2)
Rich, only a guy would write a diary like this. Women totally don't see what the problem is.
An expense account at Saks and Neiman Marcus? Sounds like paradise to me. LOL

Nothing is easier than solving a problem on the back of the poor. People who don't have lobbyists or clout.

"Guilt free and gorgeous." (4.00 / 2)
From Saks' web site.

I'm with you, Yvette! (4.00 / 3)
I think Rich should spend some of his blogging income on a Saks trip for me. Oh wait, I just remembered that Rich's blogging income consists of, as he often puts it, "close your eyes and what do you see?"

I guess it's still Penney's for me. Oh, what I wouldn't give to be a Republican vice presidential candidate...

See, the one girl blogger totally gets it!

Me too! (4.00 / 2)

Except I'd rather not spend my ill-gotten political gains at Saks or even Needless Markup.  There have to be locally owned boutiques stocked with attractive, well designed clothes made by American designers like... um, oh yeah, Michelle Obama wears.

Don't knock the Jacques de Pennies or even le Target.  Some tres cheap chic things at both establishments.  Oooooo and H&M.  I miss that place.

Do stupid people know they are stupid?

Yesterday (0.00 / 0)
one of my coworkers asked me to buy a $7.00 popcorn bucket to support her nephew's school. I love my coworker to death, and she talks about her awesome nephew so often that he feels like *my* nephew, so of course I said yes.

We're supporting public education $7.00 at a time, popcorn bucket by popcorn bucket, while our infrastructure crumbles, our teachers get screwed, our schools' support staff gets screwed twice, and our economy twists in the wind.

Meanwhile, Sarah "I Love Disabled Kids So Much That I Just HAD To Have One!" Palin spends $150,000 at Saks and Neiman's, and people actually consider voting for her.

If anybody needs me, I'll be at the bar.

Cosmetics for McCain (0.00 / 0)
Sarah should have taken McCain along with her for a trip to the cosmetics sections before the last debate.  For being from Arizona, the guy doesn't have much of a tan.  It was like looking at the ghost of Nixon 1960.
