Hey, you're thinking like a Democrat -- you're thinking that all Palin's togs were purchased OTR (off the rack).

Bet you dollars to donuts they weren't, and that Mama Cindy actually did the buying, even if she had a front person act as Palin's dresser.

Can you find any of the jackets you've see Palin wearing OTR?  I can't; they are close to Akris, Marc Jacobs, maybe one or two similar to Juicy Couture or DKNY.  What you've pointed to as examples are far more likely to be worn by Cindy as well; they are showier and not as restrained in color, cut or fabric as the stuff Palin has been wearing.

Granted, the shoes are likely OTR, but I suspect that Mama Cindy simply called whomever she deals with and said, Make it happen, something no-nonsense-business-like-veep-ish; need to remember that the women in the uppermost percentiles make use of high-end stores' personal shopping departments, the departments that the other 95% of us will never see.  And they got some semi-tailored semi-custom goodies whipped up in a hurry.  Definitely not OTR, definitely pricey.

I'm not surprised that they spent $150K if they did it this way; just surprised that they were yet again so freaking clueless about doing it the right way.

...spending the $150,000 exactly in the places i have been lately lurking. i'm having to work hard to keep to a $4000 budget--and i was planning to show a few of the items we can't afford in part two.

my favorite so far is a beaded dior jacket (almost a waistcoat) in a teal silk at $7400...but there's also a calvin klein leopard print jacket (close fit of course, it's calvin klein) that looks great...but again, at $4700, it's just too expensive.

this is not meant to diminish your point at all, just to illustrate that keeping spening down to $4000 per outfit is, in all seriousness, somewhat challenging.

if she's a hockey mom, she should be buying off-the-rack from Macy's in business attire.

I can do it for under $1000, just like the average business woman I've rubbed shoulders with for years.

Can do it for a lot less, but the real challenge is how to spend $150K while buying business wear that looks off-the-rack.

There's a leak here, in other words, about $100K worth.

...to do this story at a nordstrom rack, to really illustrate the overspending here.

to add to your point: it is not yet possible to see the itemized receipts for her spending--and it would not surprise me to discover some of this funded things entirely unrelated to clothing that the rs would rather not acknowledge.
