Urge Stabenow to ask Baucus to include single-payer advocates at hearing

by: ScottyUrb

Mon May 11, 2009 at 15:13:57 PM EDT

As seen on Democratic Underground:

This Tuesday, May 12, the Senate Finance Subcommittee is holding its final roundtable on healthcare reform.

Single-Payer New York met with Senator Schumer, member of the Senate Finance Committee, on Friday evening. He agreed to ask Senate Finance Committee Chair Max Baucus to include a single-payer expert if we can get another Senator on the committee to join him.

I just called Sen. Debbie Stabenow's DC office at (202) 224-4822 to let them know that I hope she joins Schumer in asking Baucus to include an expert on single-payer at tomorrow's hearing.

This follows last week's incident in which single-payer supporters were denied the chance to speak at a roundtable discussion on healthcare. Let's fight to ensure that doesn't happen again, and that Congress listens to advocates for a program that is supported by a majority of both doctors and other Americans!

Cash for Clunkers (0.00 / 0)
I do believe that we need to show more concern and ensure that single-payer supporter will have it rights of sharing his thought and vision to the Congress. And let them listens in his advocates for a program that is supported by a majority of both doctors and other Americans. In relation to political issues, recently, President Obama's has a program to be implemented named "Cash For Clunkers". It appeared to be a promising plan to spur new car sales by enabling car dealerships to take in older cars at better trade value. It is economical and environmental since it promotes getting rid of old, non-green vehicles. Also, the program is likely to be included with a further climate change bill, aimed to reduce carbon emissions and perhaps institute cap and trade legislation. A healthier earth is fast becoming a priority among the industrial nations. The Cash for Clunkers program is almost like a cash advance and cash repair for mother earth.

Synchronicity (0.00 / 0)
Thank you for posting this article.  Before logging in to Michigan Liberal, I had just posted a diary at Daily Kos entitled "Senator Baucus: It's Time to Reset the Table!"  It goes over many of the same points about this Finance Committee travesty.  Please read it.  I think we're on to something.

I will phone Senator Stabenow first thing tomorrow morning.  I also plan to post a suggestion on the MI Organizing for America website and encourage OFA members to contact Stabenow on this issue.  Please reply to comment if there's anything else I can do about this.

I just realized that I'm a day late (0.00 / 0)
I will still follow up as noted in my comment, but appropriately updated.  Keep in mind, we are in the early stages of a long battle, and a travesty this transparently brazen, can be turned to our advantage in the court of public opinion.
