(Mud-slinging in it's purest form! - promoted by LiberalLucy)
The Right Wing bloodletting that cost Republicans the reliable upstate New York House Seat is finding its way to Michigan. With Tea Party participants activated and demanding purity among their Republican politicians, there may be more assaults coming from the right.
Yesterday, many Michigan Republicans and Conservative groups opened their mailboxes to find a pointed postcard directed at Attorney General Mike Cox, raising the specter of his extramarital affair that he underwent “counseling and attended a church program” with his wife, Wayne County Commissioner Laura Cox, to overcome.

Dear Michigan Republicans!
Things were lonely at the South Carolina Governor’s Mansion, so I took off back to Argentina to see my soul mate. I just wanted to let you know that I am endorsing Mike Cox for your next Governor! I see him as a kindred spirit…a guy who knows what he wants and goes out and gets it!
From the Courthouse to the Mansion, Mike Cox is a man of action! So join me in Supporting him as your next governor!!
Best Wishes from the Beach!
Mark Sanford, South Carolina Governor You can see the card and other writing at www.NotThisYear.com
The owner of the website is Jason Vorva of Plymouth, a former candidate in the Republican primary for the 20th district State House seat in 2006 and the son of former Republican State Representative Jerry Vorva. While he did not win (placing third with 537 votes at 4.3% of the vote) he set the stage for a write-in candidacy for the Plymouth City Commission(challenged by the city the following year and his father’s unsuccessful race against Rep. Marc Corriveau in ’08.
Jason describes his intentions:
my website, www.notthisyear.com is dedicated to fighting all the RINOs, the big government Republicans. I will do my part to see that the GOP nominates conservatives. America has slid into socialism..and I have had it. This grassroots uprising will definitely harm Cox, raising the cloud of the Party at the Manoogian Mansion. The same party that Cox called an urban legend and said that “allegations appear to be founded solely on wild rumor and speculation.” Well according to recent text messages, introduced under seal by Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy almost six months after she charged Kilpatrick and Beatty with perjury during a 2007 whistle-blower trial involving former police officers, and made public on March 9:
Cox "called me (Saturday) and asked who we would rather be cleared by him or (Wayne County Prosecutor Mike) Duggan," former city Corporation Counsel Ruth Carter texted Kilpatrick on May 19, 2003, the day Cox announced he would conduct his own investigation. "I said him." … Carter sent Kilpatrick another text message saying she spoke to Cox again and that she and Cox would coordinate the probe. This, coupled with Michigan State Police investigator Mark Krebs testifying on Oct. 22 that Cox interfered with his investigation on the party, are spelling trouble for the Gubernatorial candidate. What may also be troubling is that the rumor around Western Wayne County is that Vorva may be preparing for an ugly primary challenge to Laura Cox, which would tie her down to the district, restricting her involvement in her husbands campaign. With his affair now being aired in the campaign, I am sure Cox wants his wife at his side during his future campaign stops. |
