I'm happy that Todd Heywood's work of journalism from over the weekend is getting some attention from the mainstream press. Of course, it had to come second hand by way of Mark Schauer's office, and if we view the story through the inverted pyramid construction the Freep felt one of the most important facts of the story was who pays the bills at Michigan Messenger, but they at least linked.

The Detroit Free Press is wholely owned by the privately held MediaNews Group founded by CEO and Vice Chairman William Dean Singleton whose contributions are trending recently toward Democratic candidates, rather than the GOP. Singleton, who supported George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004, changed his support to Democratic candidates in 2008. The majority of Singleton's cumaltive contributions are for Democratic candidates and campaigns.

Go figure.
