Teh Demas on the GOP's war on women

by: Eric B.

Thu Jun 14, 2012 at 11:51:13 AM EDT

(Bump. - promoted by Eric B.)

I've seen this popping around Teh Facebook this morning. In fact, I refereneced it while writing today's column for the local paper. Here's the most quotable stuff:

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Detroit) offered another doozy:

"Stop having sex with us, gentleman. Find somebody else to do it with. I ask women across Michigan to boycott men until these bills stop moving out of the House."

Just as long as you have sex with someone not of the same gender. That's also off limits, but that's mostly a self-inflicted injury.

These were hardly the most polite things ever said on the House floor. But then again, I wouldn't describe a bill that could force a woman to have a stillborn baby, even if it causes severe health complications and infertility, to be polite legislation. Nor would I describe it as pro-life.

That really sums things up perfectly. You can get all red faced about Lisa Brown's comment or Rashida Tlaib's comments until the end of the day, but neither is nowhere near as offensive or rude as authoring and supporting legislation that inserts someone else's spiritual beliefs into someone else's medical decision making. And, if you don't understand why it's not a close competition, probably you ought to be deprived the opportunity by your spouse's willful decision to procreate.

There's probably going to be more on this today and from other MichLibbers, but this had to be on the record here.

Update! ... I'm seeing that some Democratic lawmakers -- women, of coruse -- have been banned from speaking int he House today, possibly because Lisa Brown used the word "vagina" on the floord of the House. This really is just a perfect symbol of what role they really expect women to have. Sit there, silent, and accept what the men folk do to you for your own good.

What a bunch of assholes.

Update2! ... Confirmed.

LANSING — “Vasectomy.”

That was the word spoken by state Rep. Barb Byrum on the House floor Wednesday — an apparent transgression that she believes led House leaders to bar her from speaking today.

On Wednesday, Byrum, D-Onondaga, tried to propose an amendment to a bill which seeks to increase regulations on abortion clinics and regulate the disposal of fetal remains.

This would be the second time in two days that the state House has violated Byrum's First Amendment rights. The first was yesterday by the imposition of other's religious beliefs on her (not to mention Lisa Brown, who argued that her religious beliefs instruct her under some circumstances to get an abortion. Now, this.

By the way, if your ears are so young and tender that the mere mention of the word "vasectomy" offends them, you're too delicate a flower to serve in a lawmaking body.

Rashida Tlaib --
Michigan's Lysistrata!

In which I rant...

I spent much of yesterday yelling at MGTV which resulted in the spontaneous development of new language with which I will henceforth be referring to our illustrious elected officials on the anti-choice side of the aisle.

First though, a special message to Lesia Liss. Not that she cares much but I'm the one who made sure you didn't get any money in 2008 because your answers to the pro-choice, pro-equality questionnaires were so weasely. Four years later, you're still an 18K gold plated Andy Dillon Democrat and I'm going to move heaven, earth and a whole lot of checkbooks to make sure that your opponent gets all of the money from progressives.

I suggest that we henceforth refer to our vaginas (or the vaginas that we love) as Bolgers. I mean... since he's so all-fired concerned about my lady parts (and every vagina in Michigan as long as it's a potential voter-producing orifice), he gets the honor.

Do stupid people know they are stupid?

Lesia Liss primary opponent? n/t

Jon Switalski
is Lesia Liss' Primary opponent.

The six Democrats who voted for the bill were:
Charles Brunner of Bay City, Paul Clemente of Lincoln Park, Bob Constan of Dearborn Heights, George Darany of Dearborn, Richard LeBlanc of Westland, and Lesia Liss of Warren.

Is there some sort of rule?
Is there a formal rule that Democrats from Bay City always, always vote for anti-choice legislation?  Since I first moved to the area 14 years ago, it's been the same regardless of whether it's Barcia, Mays or Brunner.  Doesn't anyone who is pro-choice ever run for office in Bay City?  I'm sure there's a lot of catholics there, but really, does every single one of them follow the dictates of the bishops to the letter?

Ladies on the offensive
I wonder just what the sexual deviants in the House would have said had they been referred to as pecker heads.
