| Some of us might remember Jeffrey Hadden, the Detroit News civility scold who got his dander up over a post here (by me) about Dave Camp and Dave Camp's cancer. The other day, over at Henry Payne's Museum for Half-Formed Thoughts, Hadden linked to a piece written by I believe Eugene Volokh that suggested that the Obama administration's statement that the United States doesn't condone mockery of the religious practices of others, and which suggested that those of us who laugh at Young Earth Creationists are maybe enemies of the state (the point ... is sublimely stupid, since the point of mocking Young Earth Creationism is to mock a stupid idea rather than an entire religion). We're left to assume that, once again, any criticism of an idea or belief held by conservatives is hurtful and wrong and oppressive of said ideas. Speaking of the attacks on our embassies in the Middle East, what do other wingnuts have to say about it?
I mean, where to start? Could it be trying to make with the funny about a terrorist attack in which a dedicated, career diplomat was killed? Could it be trying to make with the funny about a terrorist attack at all? No, let's start with the fact that the Granholm speech was about a week-and-a-half ago. His punchline is so stale that if it were alive, it'd fart dust. |
