| Stephen Henderson isn't what you'd normally call a fire breather. That's what made his column the other day all the more damning. For a guy whose writing style might otherwise be categorized as "so mushy you could take a nap on it," he still lands walloping blows to Ruth Johnson and her citizenship question. Take the question off the ballots. Stop turning a non-issue into a constitutional confrontation. People go their entire careers and never come within a whiff of anything as savaging as that second sentence. You could distill it down to bare rock by writing, "Quit being stupid," but I think that leaves out important context. Again, one wishes there was a mechanism by which public officials who so waste public resources could be compelled to pay up. That might actually get this thing to just go away. |
