Fred Upton expects no deal on debt ceiling

Pathetic.

KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Congressman Fred Upton is predicting that Congress will not be able to come to an agreement to avoid automatic cuts in two months.

The St. Joseph Republican says the so-called second Fiscal cliff they are facing in two months will take effect, and some say that could tip us back into a recession.

It will be a wound inflicted on all of us by people who don't know the difference between spending and paying bills related to said spending.

Utter Bull

This is going to happen just like it always has. This is theater; I think everyone realizes that, now. Their MO is to make everything that is ever passed as painful as humanely possible, because, you know, Obama. They may be stupid, but they (the leadership) aren't crazy.

second Fiscal cliff not the same as debt limit

the linked article makes no mention of the debt ceiling. The fact that Upton is not addressing the debt ceiling could be taken as a sign that it will be raised without too much fuss. Perhaps the fight will merely be over spending issues and not whether to trash the entire global financial system by defaulting on the debt.

Oh, it is the same thing

There are already rightwing crazies saying they're happy to default over spending. So, it's the same stupid fight. They don't mind defaulting on debt payments. They don't mind economy-damaging austerity. They'll combine the two because it's what they always do.
