| When Ingham County Register of Deeds Curtis Hertel Jr. contacted me a couple of weeks ago about sponsoring this site for a week, during our conversation I made it a point to ask him about the work that's attracted notoriety for him ... fighting foreclosure fraud. A friend of mine, about a year and a half ago, suggested that I keep him and the issue on my radar because it was going unreported even though it's important work. Unfortunately, the nature of doing this largely just another gig I have in making my life work meant that there was always something else popping up, always some major issue or development that hijacked my attention. So, I sort of vowed to get up to speed while figuring out how to make clear that my interest in what he was doing wasn't related to the fact that he'd given me money. Luckily, that week, something popped up that demanded my attention, and this week if we're friends on Facebook you might know that I've been busy rescuing an abandoned cat (true story). So, it's my intention to really get up to speed on this, because it's a social and legal issue that deserves attention. Anyway, he posted on Facebook earlier today a link to a radio show he'll be on this Sunday. My interest in this, by the way, is neither related to his past sponsorship of this site nor to his upcoming campaign for the state Senate. If you follow along on Facebook (or read Michael McGuinness' comment somewhere down below) you already know he is. If not, well, he is. This is a dead giveaway. |
