Goat Killer says his latest anti-gay tirade was taken out of context

by: Eric B.

Tue Dec 10, 2013 at 14:03:18 PM EST

Just saw on Twitter than Gongwer is reporting that Goat Killer said he stands by his latest anti-gay tirade, but says it was taken out of context. Let's review.

He has taken flak nationally for his stance against gay marriage, but he said he doesn't mind because while working at American Airlines, he saw firsthand what happens when benefits are extended to gay people.

He said American Airlines workers would say a person with AIDS was their lover so that person could get medical benefits.

"Folks, they (gay people) want free medical because they're dying (when they're) between 30 and 44 years old," he said. "To me, it's a moral issue. It's a Biblical issue. Traditional marriage is where it should be and it's in our platform. Those in our party who oppose traditional marriage are wrong."

Now it's possible that he was misquoted. With quality control now a matter of history in most newsrooms, we just simply can't know if someone says they were misquoted. Goat Killer isn't challenging that, however. Gongwer says he said his comments were taken out of context.

It's hard to imagine any context that you could put an allegation that someone wants "free medical" because they want to suborn the American health care system that would make it decent and wholesome. Of course, last time around, he defended his comments by saying that the anti-gay tirade he posted to Facebook was written by someone else and that it was all factual (or, as we say around here ... information). In other words, it's very much doubtful that he was actually taken out of context, since he has a very long history of saying stuipid things like this. More likely, he's just made he got caught ... again, especially considering:

Agema has long been a vocal opponent of the gay community. In April, Agema likened being gay to being an alcoholic, encouraging radio show listeners to help members of the homosexual community "get out of it."

By the way, this is again causing the national committeeman seat under Goat Killer to grow warm. There's also a Draft Dave Agema for lieutenant governor Facebook page, but it was launched before this month (the page appears to have been officially launched in November, but it says it was created over the summer ... perhaps by God, who Goat Killer has consulted directly with before making important career plans).

That's Republican-speak for "I got caught saying something offensive and now I'm trying to limit the damage."

A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always count on the support of Paul.

Committeeman Agema. (0.00 / 0)
Shortly after his latest similar media frenzy experience, his anti-equal-legal-treatment-for-gay-couples (some on the right distort it when equality is the phrase, so I will try to be more explicit) resolution was unanimously passed at the RNC meeting.

In some ways, it clearly serves to boost his standing with the party activists when these media mini-tempests flare up.  Feigned martyrdom is an important part of this equation.

I wouldn't say he should have to resign. (0.00 / 0)
His committeeman role is to represent and advocate for his party and its platform.  If the party membership continues to feel he represents and advocates accurately, then... by. all. means.
