Tim Walberg thinks he was channeling God the other day

by: Eric B.

Fri Jan 17, 2014 at 14:35:22 PM EST

(Before we get into this: We all agree that "In God We Trust" was a Cold War thing and not because anyone actually meant it. Okay, that's established.)

Tim Wallberg, a man who believes that the attorney general of the United States connived to have Border Patrol agents slain so he could start confiscating guns, spoke on God's behalf the other day in railing against abortion.

“And so rather than going on with further comments that I would make from my own thoughts, I would turn to the thoughts of God himself, more specifically words that were uttered by a man, a king, a very wise king who was very human, as well, a king who was classified by God himself as being a man after My own heart. And so what this man would say or would think if he were honored by God with that statement would be something we should hear.”

Tim Walberg's God appears to be something of a rambling, incoherent drunk. Who calls unborn fetuses children. Probably loves tax cuts, too.

The actual person Walberg quotes is King David, but since it's in The Bible, it's supposed to also be the Word of God. King David, leader of a band of warlike nomadic shepherds who took their home from someone else by force, believes his body is a marvel of design (such a marvelous design that it has to be shut down one-third of the time for maintenance).

It would take a large bottle of Hidden Ranch Dressing... (4.00 / 1)
to cover Walberg's word salad.

A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always count on the support of Paul.

You can tell a lot about a man by the kind of greens he keeps as his company (4.00 / 1)
Usually, I'm a vinegar and oil man for a salad dressing. Don't drown the flavors of the food you're eating and all. Translating brain power to salad, I'd expect Tim Walberg to offer up a nice bowl of iceberg lettuce, grated carrots and for kicks maybe the odd round of cucumber. Definitely the stuff to drown in ranch and grated Colby Jack cheese.

is so clueless it hurts. It hurts even more that this guy is my representative.

Walberg (4.00 / 1)
Walberg is so out of place, even for his rural district.  He's like a piece of the South brought north, and probably are only legit Evangelical fundamentalist in our congressional delegation, or at least the one who best speaks their language being a pastor, himself.

I really have a lot of hope for Pam Byrnes.  She our most legitimate candidate since Schauer held this seat.  Even with his district being made more Republican, he still only put 10 points on a total no-name Truther in 2012 who raised a total of $68,000 during his entire campaign, and lest we forget about the close call with the Munith Turkey Lady in the old iteration of the district.

It's going to be a tough climb, no doubt because Walberg will probably still outraise her, but Pam already put up nearly $192,000 at the October quarterly (Tim put up just a bit more at $212,000 in that same quarter, but had started fundraising earlier so he has more cash-on-hand), so that's many times better than Haskell's entire 2012 haul, and as a former legislator, Pam knows what she's doing.  I may even throw her a few bones, myself.  MI-01 and MI-07 are the most likely to flip if we're serious about our races.

Correction (4.00 / 1)
It seems that Haskell raised just over $101,000 for his entire campaign in 2012, not $68,000, which is seemingly what he raised up until the October reporting period.

I saw that and said "no wonder."

That's why I have a special label for him on my personal blog: Liar for Jesus.
