Benevolent overlord Rick Michigan says RTW a great idea, blames others for it

Right to Work has been great for Michigan, our benevolent overlord Rick Michigan told the HuffPo the other day. Just don't blame him for it. Bitch had it coming.

DETROIT -- The Michigan Legislature's hasty passage of a right-to-work law in December 2012 was likely the most polarizing week of Gov. Rick Snyder's (R) tenure. Given the choice, he said he'd do it again.

"Absolutely," he told The Huffington Post during an interview Friday when asked whether Michigan was better off with the new legislation.

Naturally, this is offered without evdence beyond vague assertion that companies are lining up at the state's borders to come in and look at Michigan, nor does it appear anyone bothered to ask for any. Anywhoo, down in the article.

You're the ones who are creating the environment, then, that all the horses are going to be out of the gate. I didn't use those words, exactly. I said, 'you're going to create the momentum for them [Republicans] to say, what's the counter-response that will be taking place to right-to-work?' I said, 'you don't want to see that happen, and I don't want to see that happen, either.'

It's been great for the state, but our benevolent overlord Rick Michigan didn't really want it. The state's unions brought it upon themselves by pushing Proposal 2. The incogruousness, it burns.

By the way, Right to Work would be a great thing for Democrats, if only they'd use it as an internal argument to broaden its appeal to traditional labor constituencies and go where the people's is (if we're talking like mountain men, which I'd endorse).

I'd like (4.00 / 2)
I'd like to proffer, that it wasn't Proposal 2 that set this into motion, at all, but that this was already planned, and that it was the results of the 2012 elections that emboldened the GOP to push it when they did, with the failure of the proposals being the necessary cover in which to do it.

The GOP was going to do this sometime in Rick's first term, and with a ballot purposefully loaded so that almost everything would fail (and the repeal of the EM law only barely got across the finish line), they found the what they felt was the best place to pull the trigger.  At the end of the day, they were going to pass it sometimes in between the 2012 and 2014 elections.
