From his cold, dead hands...

by: Eric B.

Wed Feb 12, 2014 at 12:29:25 PM EST

From Midland's favorite bigot.

A family values Republican running for state House is using comments from the late Charlton Heston that are nearly three decades old to essentially claim that the actor and gun-rights advocate would have endorsed his candidacy -- if he hadn’t died six years ago.

This is fitting in a very real way, since Glenn's own worldview is as dated and dead as the man who endorsed him from beyond the grave. At any rate, great way to snatch a play right from the Chicago-style politics book of Alinsky and get the dead to vote for endorse you.

Holy Moses: Heston supports Glenn (0.00 / 0)
Gary Glenn is hardly the first candidate to rely on the support of deceased people, that portion of the electorate political scientists call the "permanently absent voters."

Take Mayor Daly for example.  Or take me for example.  I was proud to seek the endorsement of John F. Kennedy for my candidacy, which he would have unquestionably given had he not died 45 years previously, because I was a candidate very much in the JFK mold.

Vanity (0.00 / 0)
This is a vanity campaign, right?  There is no way in hell Dow's going to allow this in their backyard, right?  I heard Gary was down at the Bay City Commission, the other night, looking like he's about to get a win by setting back that county's non-discrimination proposal, but that's the limit of his power, right?

Anyway, "family values Republican" should never be lacking quotes.  NEVER. lol  The only way this guy has "family values" is if he's the patriarch of the Mason family.

Sheesh, what did the "Mason family" ever do to you? :-D (0.00 / 0)

Likely 3+ way primary (0.00 / 0)
Karl Ieuter and Mark Potts are running as well. I don't know much about Midland politics.

After dealing with some of Glenn's folks on the campaign trail in the 2012 senate race, I'll just say that I hope one of the two other folks win the primary and leave it at that.
