We finally learn why Terri Lynn Land isn't allowed to talk to anyone

by: Eric B.

Tue Apr 08, 2014 at 13:08:09 PM EDT

She says dumb things that would offend everyone.

Now, granted, Terri Lynn Land is, in fact, a woman and I am, in fact, a man, but I'd be willing to wager a small sum of money that if you really started poll women on what they wanted, most of them would prefer to earn an equal wage -- especially the closer you get to the point where it's impossible to make ends meet -- than to have all the freedom and family responsibilities of a 1970s housewife all over again.

Rebranding! (4.00 / 3)
Another rebranding success for the Party of Palin, Bachmann, Akin, Mourdock, Buck, and O'Donnell!

Huzzah!

Now on Great Lakes, Great Times, Great Scott: The Grand Rapids Press, which rarely endorses Democrats, backs Winnie Brinks

And who's to say (4.00 / 3)
That men don't like a flexible schedule also.  After all this is the 21st Century-child care is shared these days. Boy is she dumb

Evidently, Team Land doesn't realize what an unforced error it made (4.00 / 2)
The American Bridge 21st Century PAC (whoever came up with that dippy name deserves a public flogging) actually posted Land's video:

Which, by the way, has become a national political story. It's on the front page of Daily Kos and was reported by Talking Points Memo.

A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always count on the support of Paul.

Apparently (4.00 / 1)
Apparently, men don't have children.  Way to insult everybody, Terri. lol  Peters and Land will have debates, right?  I can't wait.

Land doesn't understand the typical working family life. (4.00 / 4)
I am a man and have to take my kids to the babysitter in the morning twice a week, which makes me arrive at least an hour later than my typical starting time. Do I expect to be paid less because my employer is flexible? No. If I were a woman, would I (or more appropriately - should I) expect to be paid less? No. In reality, though, a woman may be forced to accept less to do the same job from the time they are hired because their employer assumes that they could become pregnant and need flexibility and for some reason society has accepted this as being okay. It's not. In today's economy, where it generally takes two incomes for a working family to make ends meet, men need flexibility too. Nobody should have to accept less because of it.

In Land-Land (Landville?), that's what the domestic help is for (4.00 / 2)
Of course Terri Lynn Land doesn't get it.

She came from money, married MORE money 31 years ago, and was able to pursue a full time political career (Kent County Clerk for eight years, then another eight as Secretary of State) despite having two young children.

Land comes across as another Ann Romney -- someone who was able to hire people for all the distasteful chores inherent in childrearing, and wonders why other people think it's SO HARD to raise children.
