Armed mob marches on state Capitol

by: Eric B.

Tue Apr 29, 2014 at 10:03:47 AM EDT

Right now, even as we speak, an undisciplined and armed mob is assembling to march on the Capitol and to occupy it. Unlike most times that anarchy is invoked, this is real anarchy (as opposed to chaos). We go to MLive for details.

Supporters of Michigan's Open Carry Law will hold a rally in Lansing supporting the right to openly carry firearms in Michigan. The group will start the rally at the corner of Cedar St. and Michigan Ave. starting at 9:40 a.m. and begin a march at 9:45 a.m. down Michigan to the Capitol lawn.

Most of us are still sort of pointing and laughing at the state of Georgia, which last week raised restrictions on taking guns basically anywhere, and which this week saw one of its home-grown assholes carry a firearm to a Little League game where he menaced people with it.

According to witnesses who spoke with WSB-TV, the man wandered around the Forsythe County park last Tuesday night showing his gun to strangers, telling them “there’s nothing you can do about it.”

We've seen both of these manifest themselves before. There's a guy in the photo attached to this story who is doing the same thing ... but with a sign. Speaking of signs, at the end, we find that guns don't kill people, signs do.

"You can open carry in the Capitol, but you can't brandish," Adler pointed out, explaining that gun owners cannot draw their weapons inside. "You can have it slung over your shoulder or on your hip. So in comparison, yeah, it's actually less dangerous to have a gun in the Capitol than a sign. You brandish a sign, but you can't brandish a gun."

That's Ari B. Adler, of the Lansing Adlers. The Young Professional Adlers. The Ari B. Adler who also once compared homosexuals advocating on behalf of themselves to the seagulls in Finding Nemo.

P.S. Let's hope these people really do go home at the end of the day. There are consequences for letting them hang about too long.

And, yet... (4.00 / 1)
...and correct me if I'm wrong here - the actual legislative chambers are still gun-free zones, right?  It's freedom to carry -- that is until the legislators have to see them.

BTW, Ari, call me when a sign accidentally discharges and then repeat that idiocy you just uttered.

Rain in Lansing (4.00 / 2)
Now I know why it is raining in Lansing today.  FEMA plot.

Naturally, if even one of the AFT marchers open carries a firearm tomorrow for THEIR Lobby Day, the response would likely be very different (4.00 / 3)
Especially if that teacher is a person of color.

"Union thugs" are bad enough -- ARMED "union thugs" will probably send Ari B. Adler straight to the fainting couch.

"The two most common elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity." ~ Harlan Ellison

Now I would love (4.00 / 1)
to see that. Right wing heads would detonate.

I support gun rights in general, although I think that open carry (while legal in MI) is a bad idea, if only because it freaks people out. It's easy to get a CPL in Michigan--if you want to carry, get one. These in-your-face marches are not a good way to make friends and influence people, IMHO.
