Biography:
State Representative Matt Gillard is a lifelong resident of Alpena.
Formerly an attorney with the law firm of Gillard, Bauer, Mazrum,
Florip, Smigelski, and Gulden, Rep. Gillard graduated from Wayne State
Law School and is a member of the Michigan State Bar. Rep. Gillard also
graduated from Albion College with a B.A. in Political Science.
Rep. Gillard is serving his second term in the Michigan House of
Representatives. He is committed to creating jobs for Northern
Michigan's families. Gillard is serving on the House Oversight,
Elections, and Ethics Committee. He is the Vice Chair of the Natural
Resources, Great Lakes, Land Use and Environment Committee, and a
member of the Conservation, Forestry, and Outdoor Recreation Committee.
He is also an appointee to the Governor's Medicaid Long Term Care Task
Force.
Rep. Gillard is active with the Alpena Hockey Association, Thunder
Bay Soccer Association and many Alpena area charitable organizations.
Rep. Gillard sits on the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alpena Board of
Directors. He is also an avid hunter and fisherman.
