Joe Schwarz filed a complaint with the FEC yesterday, contending that Club for Growth illegally coordinated resources with Tim Walberg's campaign.
The FEC complaint contends the Club for Growth coordinated expenditures from its political action committee and 527 organization, listing common political strategists and pollsters who were paid by the Club for Growth, Walberg and three other campaigns: Senate candidate Steve Laffey in Rhode Island, and congressional candidates Sharron Angle in Nevada and Bill Sali in Idaho. |

| The complaint isn't going to change the race in MI-07, nor does Schwarz contend that it will.
Schwarz said the complaint is "not about the race itself. I lost the race. I lost the primary." He said the evidence would show the Club for Growth was "illegally funneling money to campaign committees."
He lost the race, he says, and he's not contesting that.
But the action may bring more scrutiny to the Club for Growth, which has been one of the more influential entities pushing the Republican party further right in recent years. If the complaint shows that Club for Growth is violating campaign finance laws by using 527 money to coordinate efforts with a campaign, it may make it harder for CfG to exert so much influence in upcoming elections. |
