Looks like Amway Guy had to answer some interesting questions yesterday while he was down campaigning Jackson with CD07 wannabe congresscritter Tim Walberg. From the Jackson Citizen-Patriot:
"The individuals working with you are a reflection of who you are," DeVos said en route to Jackson, where he appeared at a political event. "Therefore, as a leader, you have a responsibility to make sure individuals on staff reflect our values, our views."
Amway Guy also says the resignation of Walberg's volunteer coordinator and confessed child abuser Daniel Coons was the "proper outcome."
Someone with more time can probably go through and come up with a list (Hector?) of the individuals working with Amway Guy that reflect on him. But as it applies specifically to the Walberg situation, I actually have to agree with the Amway Guy (glork!).
Walberg admits to knowing Coons was charged with abusing his 9-year old foster son over a month ago. Yet he let him stick around, and - according to today's paper - supposedly never bothered to ask "hey Dan, how is that domestic violence thing going? Entered a plea yet?" Here's the quote:
Walberg said he knew of the alleged abuse "on or about Sept. 12."
He said Coons never told him of the guilty plea.
"I learned that Tuesday from (the Citizen Patriot)," Walberg said. (emphasis added)
Coons pleaded guilty on September 18.
Then there's the fact Coons is being represented by two lawyers who have either worked for or have ties to Walberg. Yet Tim only found out about the guilty plea this week? If that's true (which I seriously doubt) - that's blatant negligence on Walberg's part.
And that's not even mentioning that here we are on DAY 3 of this whole thing - and Walberg still has yet to acknowledge one iota that it is WRONG and ILLEGAL to use this kind of violence on a 9-year old. Instead, Walberg repeats his same mantra about how the child ought to be returned to Coons.
Again, to quote the Amway Guy:
"The individuals working with you are a reflection of who you are."
Let me make clear that I do disagree with Amway Guy on one point here (besides the fact that he agreed to be seen in public with Walberg) - Coons resigning was not the "proper outcome." The "proper outcome" would have been him getting the boot over a month ago and not having Walberg look the other way. THAT would be the proper outcome.
Now go help Sharon Renier! |
