Congressional District Watch

As reported by LiberalLucy earlier, a team of Michigan blogger-constituents is working together to track Mike Rogers. Also there are fine muckraking blogs already in place to track Dave Camp, Joe Knollenberg, and Tim Walberg. And Thaddeus McCotter should not rest easy..

This is a good start. But these blogs all need help to keep the original reporting and commentary going. And what about our Reps that are not being tracked?

If you're interested in starting a blog to track your congressional rep, or helping with an existing blog, please reply in the comments. I'd be happy to help folks get together to get some more blogs off the ground (if you use Blogger, it's even free!), or forward your email to the folks running existing blogs.

If you need inspiration, remember: Richard Pombo would never have been defeated in CA this year without Say No To Pombo leading the charge. Mean Jean Schmidt was almost defeated (again) thanks in part to the OH-02 blog. Mike Ferguson was nearly knocked off thanks in part to Dump Mike. Blogs can make a difference.

Note: It's great to track state legislators too, just easier to start with congressional reps. There are less of them, and their districts are much bigger - a lot more likely to include a handful of bloggers already.

For the record... (0.00 / 0)
...a blog is much, much, much easier to maintain with various contributors. The press since we started (literally about 48 hours ago as I write this) has been incredible, and I'm hoping it will only grow from here on out.
I encourage anyone, and I mean anyone to take a bold step in even dreaming their own Congressional Watch blog up to contact me or Laura and we'll be glad to assist!

tracking Thad and the 11th (4.00 / 1)
I sent an email to Laura indicating I'd like to get involved in tracking BadThad and the 11th District.  I'm new to this, so I could certainly use help, but I hope to get started pretty soon.  Any others in the 11th, please stay in touch and we'll find a way to get something going.

Please email me (0.00 / 0)
and I'll add you to the list of folks willing to help in the 11th.

I've reserved domain names and will roll out a website just as soon as a few business things clear.

In addition to a blog, I want to track his legislative activities, and to the extent we can, keep track of his appearances (& no shows) in the district.

Welcome aboard!

And, a  note to everyone else who may be interested - please send me an email (click on my moniker to find it). No web experience needed. There's plenty of work for everyone.
