How to stop a war.

Greetings all, My name is Ron Esquerra, I live in Alger county and have been a reader here for a few years on and off. I finaly decided to join and begin posting. My first post is probably the most urgent and important one I shall share with you all. As many of you may be aware, this Administration is setting the stage for a war with Iran. Let me say that the ramifications of such action would be utterly terrible in every way. So you ask, "What can we do about it?" Well, General Wes Clark has partnered with a group of Iraq and Afghanistan vets called votevets.org and formed a website called stopiranwar.com Below is the message General Clark wrote about the effort. Please go to the website and sign the petition. This isn't any kind of campaign related activity. In fact, General Clark believes this to be so important that he has put any plans of his concerning 2008 on hold so he can put his full effort in to this. We have over 23,000 signatures so far and General Clark feels we can achieve 100,000 or more.

I am a veteran, and a Democrat. My friends that I served with are still in Iraq as we speak. Please help me do all I can to make sure that their next stop will NOT be Tehran. Thanks.

Website is here.

updemocrat :: How to stop a war.
"All Americans want to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons and interfering on the ground inside Iraq. Yet President Bush's saber rattling gives the US little additional leverage to engage and dissuade Iran, and, more than likely, simply accelerates a dangerous slide into war. The United States can do better than this.

Whatever the pace of Iran's nuclear efforts, in the give and take of the Administration's rhetoric and accusations, we are approaching the last moments to head off looming conflict.

Cannot the world's most powerful nation deign speak to the resentful and scheming regional power that is Iran? Can we not speak of the interests of others, work to establish a sustained dialogue, and seek to benefit the people of Iran and the region? Could not such a dialogue, properly conducted, begin a process that could, over time, help realign hardened attitudes and polarizing views within the region? And isn't it easier to undertake such a dialogue now, before more die, and more martyrs are created to feed extremist passions?

Please join the Iraq War veterans at VoteVets.org and me and sign the petition to President Bush today. Military force against Iran is not the solution now, and if we adopt the right strategy, perhaps it need never be. Urge him to work with our allies and use every diplomatic, political, and economic option at our disposal to deal with Iran. War is not the answer.-Wes Clark"

Over at my blog Arblogger, by the way, one of the permanent sidebar links, and near the top, is IVAW--Support The Troops under its own special "Actively Support Our Troops" heading.

  Thanks Ron!

Thanks for the warm welcome. (0.00 / 0)
I never made it in theatre though, I had foot problems at Fort Knox and ended up getting discharged. I was attached to the 1072nd Maintenance co. out of the LGA in Detroit. As far as I know they are still deployed. I have made it a mission of mine to do as much veterans advocacy as I can since I got out.

Thanks again, good to be here.
