In case anyone needs a refresher course on Terry Rakolta, she's the sister of Mitt and Ronna Romney, making John Romney Mitt and Ronna's bro-in-law.

In any event, Terry Rakolta is most (in)famous for her part in turning an obscure, little-watched TV sitcom on an obscure, little-watched TV network into one of the most successful (and, to date, longest-running) sitcoms in TV history.

Yes, I'm talking about Married with Children, the crude show about the Bundys, featuring Christina Applegate.

Hardly anyone was watching (or had even heard of) the show in  1989--hell Fox was barely even a network at the time (they were only on a few days a week, and I believe their biggest "hit" was "Wolf", a Fugitive-like show about...a werewolf).

Anyway, Terry Rakolta was Shocked!ShockedISay!® at the tacky show, and stirred up a hornets' nest trying to get advertisers to drop the show. Some did, but the net result was that the ensuing publicity ended up turning the show into a hit, helping launching Fox into the mainstream (this was before The Simpsons premiered and *really* made Fox into a success).

Smooth move, Terry! Nice to see that your husband is just as successful at getting the opposite result of what he intended!

All of the posts about the "LOVE" group in Livingston County reminded me of her pathetic puritan "sensitivities."

I remember so well watching her on Good Morning America say that MWC treated women like "dog doo-doo." For some reason it cracked me up to hear a grown woman pick a word like "doo-doo" as her adjective of choice.

What a family.

Rakolta never really related to Mitt (0.00 / 0)

"In case anyone needs a refresher course on Terry Rakolta, she's the sister of Mitt and Ronna Romney, making John Romney Mitt and Ronna's bro-in-law."  Terry is Ronna Romney's sister and since Ronna has been divorced from Scott Romney, Mitt's brother, for years that makes Terry Scott's former sister-in-law, not Mitt's.  However, Terry's husband John has been very supportive of Mitt's run for Pres. and is one of his largest financial backers in Michigan.  So obviously they're friends, if never really related.

if Terry Rakolta is part of the GOP sickness/slime machine.
Having been raised a Christian, I'm sick of the self-proclaimed moral outrage at a bit of titillation on the tube as opposed to the genuine moral disease that allows these folks to trample on the poor and the weak and the sick and the hungry and the horribly injured soldiers of Bush's folly. Anyone?
