April Straw Poll - 2.0

by: TJarrell

Mon Apr 09, 2007 at 23:52:27 PM EDT

(From the diaries - go below the fold to vote. - promoted by Hazen Pingree)

UPDATED: I left Bill Richardson off of my original poll for April. He has been added. If you already voted, please do so again.

If the election were today, who would you cast your vote for? Will you vote in person or online? I can't see myself ever voting online.

The March poll was a tie between Bill Richardson and the Undecideds for first place.

I will be voting online (4.00 / 1)
because I will be helping with the caucus sites on that day, one way or another - either staffing one of the sites, or driving voters, or behind-the-scenes organizing.

Busy on Caucus Day? (0.00 / 0)
Vote by mail. I trust that method to voting online.

Edwards out to an early lead (0.00 / 0)
No votes for last month's favorite Richardson. Where are the Clinton/Obama supporters?

My vote is still for Richardson. (0.00 / 0)
I don't think he has a cahnce in hell of winning the primary, but I still think he's the best candidate.

Of "the big 3", I'd back Edwards.  Obama would make a great President, but he's too nice a guy to win an election.  Hillary can win because she wouldn't think twice about ripping her opponent's nuts off, but will neglect the grassroots.  Edwards seems like he could pull off winning and backing the grassroots at the same time.

Anyway, just my two cents.

You're right about Hillary (0.00 / 0)
and you so have a way with words!

I like Richardson enough that I hope he becomes a first-tier candidate--he's great on foreign policy and the environment, which will hopefully add some gravitas to what's rapidly becoming a "who does the best TV" dog and pony show.

Obama in '08 (4.00 / 1)
Hope you don't mind a California voter participating. We hate to be pre-empted on caucus/primary votes ya know. :)

I'm still firmly supporting Obama.  Over 100,000 donors ... and almost as much money as Mrs. C!!  Holy fundraising!  I smell the Dean campaign supporters doin' their thing all over again - organizing and doing things on their own to try to help their favorite candidate.

Disclaimer - If Al Gore enters the race at the end of year, my vote belongs to him .... we need an environmental focus.

He needs more details on his Website (0.00 / 0)
His issues pages have little substance. He has a page called "Plan to end the Iraq War." He offers, maybe one paragraph on how he wants to do this. Most of the page is spent bragging about how he was against the war in 2002 -- which does little for me now. Biden offers details about his plan at PlanforIraq.com and I would like to see Obama do something similar. If the election were today, I would probably vote Richardson or write-in Wesley Clark. I am not really feeling any of these folks.

He does need to flesh things out a bit.  He's in the honeymoon stage right now.

Very soft support for Obama (0.00 / 0)
I voted for Obama, but that's definitely not solid support. I like Obama's overall message of hope (and he has the coolest logo I've ever seen!), and I'm looking forward to specifics sometime in the not-to-distant future. If he's everything we all seem to hope he'll be, he could change the nature of American politics as a real "uniter, not a divider" and solidify the Democratic majority. That's the hope, anyway.

Mind you, John Edwards almost got my vote this time, and I still think Bill Richardson is going to run circles around everyone else once the debates really get going. The rest... fail to excite me.

(Of course, I'm still all for Russ Feingold 2016, since he turned down 2008.)

... And I'll probably vote in person. There's something kind of fun about showing up somewhere to cast my ballot.

Obama's logo (0.00 / 0)
Funny you should say that. Just this very afternoon, I remarked to somebody about what a cool logo Obama has. It certainly won't win him the presidency in and of itself. But it can't hurt...

"HAZEN S. PINGREE...He was the first to warn the people of the great danger threatened by powerful private corporations, and the first to awake to the great inequalities in taxation and to initiate steps for reforms. THE IDOL OF THE PEOPLE"

Richardson! Richardson! Richardson! (4.00 / 1)
Energy will be the most important issue facing the next president, and Bill Richardson has the experience, both federally and in running a state.

Plus, his foreign affairs portfolio is that one accomplished dude.

Richardson is in North Korea as we speak (0.00 / 0)
Does Hillary have an issues page somewhere that I can't find? Also, Edwards' issues page is vague.

Did anybody check out the moveon townhall meeting tonight...I couldn't get audio. Anyone else have problems?

all of the audio is available (4.00 / 1)
check out their page for the meeting.  they've got links to all of the responses, including audio.

Check out my mediocre blog.

I voted "not content" because right now I'm holding out for Gore (0.00 / 0)
If he doesn't run, Richardson would get my vote right now.  I voted online last time and probably will again.

Oh, how I wish Wes Clark would run! (0.00 / 0)

BTW, Scotty did you see him speak at CMU?
