This guy is a lesson to us all (4.00 / 1)
Unfortunately this guy is from my neighborhood.  He's really angling to earn himself a good position on the Rethug gravy train for after he terms out.  He's as slippery as they come.  The Record Eagle really did a lot of work exposing his special money trail but it wasn't enough to get him voted out of office.  I think it may have played a role in him getting passed over for the coveted leadership spot he pursued with a vengence but that is small comfort in light of the damage he's still in a position to inflict on our state.

The lesson for we on the left is to be found in last November's election.  The Dem candidate was out of Antrim Co. and did not have the know-how or the guidance necessary to work such a huge district.  Additionally she had never run for office before and there are hardly any strong county parties in the 37th.

We make this mistake much too often on the left.  We don't take the time to invest in local candidates so that they may gain valuable experience and name recognition.  When will we learn that running first time candidates in positions that are much to big for them is a losing strategy?

Just as we can no longer continue our disappearing act after each Presidential race, we should no longer be foregoing investment in local candidates who can grow into successful candidates for higher office.

Terrific work. Now the question is: how can we get this information to his constituents? If they really knew what his obstruction is going to do to their schools, they might not be very happy with him...

Considering the demographics (0.00 / 0)
I'm afraid conventional methods are what is needed here.  Letters to the Editor might only be an avenue to people within the District (i.e. The TC Record Eagle does not print non-local LTTEs) and you won't be reaching many of them through the internet, unfortunately.

That leaves various methods of advertising:  Radio, TV, newspaper and billboards.  I don't know of any organizations willing to put out the money.  At least none that could afford to do so.

Sadly there are not many organized local groups (i.e. county parties) who are able to put together a coordinated LTTE campaign as well as an effort to contact his office en masse.  This is where the strategy of focusing on local party growth comes in.  But nevermind that....

The whole discussion is basically moot in regard to Allen as he's termed out and doesn't particularly (need to) care what his constituents think.  He's only looking to serve his Republican masters well enough to get a seat at the table/trough for after this, his final term.

Hey Saul and Jason, (0.00 / 0)
I pay taxes in this damned district, and I'm only up there maybe 4 weeks out of the year.  Where's my tax cut???  You guys are always wanting to cut taxes, how come I never get any of it?

And if you live in the district CALL THE SENATOR! n/t (0.00 / 0)

I don't live there. I can't vote there. (0.00 / 0)
I have no trash pick up, water, or sewers.  I just get to pay propert7y taxes to that area.
