Vote Saturday, June 30th at the Youth Caucus. (for me!)

(From the diaries. - promoted by lpackard)

Hey Michlibers...

I have been a huge fan of this site for quite a while now and while I am not a regular poster I am a regular lurker.

Many of the bloggers here have met me and we've broken bread at the cruise director's house.  Now I am asking for your support.

You probably have noticed the occasional young dems banter on this site stemming from the Michigan Young Democrats disasterous effort at a convention and all the aftermath that brought.

Well it is time for us to move forward, and the Michigan Democratic Party agrees.  In a decision by the appeals committee, the State Party no longer recognizes the Young Democrats as the official youth organization of the MDP.  Instead it is recreating the Youth Caucus.

For those who don't know, the Youth Caucus was started back in 2002 by some of our great young leaders like Dave Woodward, Ryan Friedrichs, Jody Weissler and Amanda Stitt just to name a few.  That year the Youth Caucus organized the largest young democrat voter mobilization in the history of Michigan.  That leadership and dedication to the Party is what we are trying to re-establish with the new Youth Caucus.

I am working with former Youth Caucus leaders like Dave Woodward and Ryan Friedrichs to get us back on track.  We have put together a great team of young, diverse and active young Democrats from across Michigan to move this organization forward.

I am asking for your support and your vote on June 30th to elect me, Steve Pontoni, Chair of the Youth Caucus.

spontoni :: Vote Saturday, June 30th at the Youth Caucus. (for me!)
My job allows me the time and resources to make the Youth Caucus successful. I am not running for any other offices and I believe in the cause.

We have five missions for the new Youth Caucus:

1. Bring dignity and respect back to the youth movement in Michigan

2. Make it easier for young people to get involved in Democratic politics

3. Push policy that will help young people in Michigan

4. Promote young people within the Democratic party structure

5. Create a network of active and motivated young Democrats across the state

The new Youth Caucus will be comprised of diverse, organized and motivated young Democrats from across the state. We will work hard to elect Democrats throughout the state and build the future of our party by promoting youth leadership. Please join us at the convention on June 30th and be a part of this exciting new movement.

With these goals in mind, if you would like to be a part of this new effort there are plenty of offices to run for and there will be opportunities after the convention to get involved.  Please email me if you are interested at svpontoni@gmail.com.

Direct Question (0.00 / 0)
Mr. Pantoni,

Will the voting at the Youth Caucus Convention apply the Youth Caucus Constitution regarding proportional voting?  Or, will the Convention apply the Call to Convention rule of one person/one vote?

Will 15, 16 & 17 year olds be allowed to vote as stated in the Youth Caucus Constitution. Or, will only 18-35 be allowed to vote as stated in the Call to Convention?

Call me Steve, Mr. Pantoni is some one I don't even know :) (0.00 / 0)
I am not running the convention, but I will check with the chairperson to find out the answer to these questions.

Pontoni for Chair! (0.00 / 0)
Steve Pontoni is an AWESOME young leader in Michigan.  He has proven himself to be tireless to advancing youth in Michigan politics without regard for personal glory but for the good of Michigan Dems.

He's the jam and we'd be VERY lucky to have him as the leader of the official youth arm of the MDP!!
