I'd heard some of Blackwater before seeing this video, but the video really made it hit home.

I recently saw this credible piece on Blackwater and found it very disturbing. http://www.liveleak.... It features a reporter from "The Nation" and also an Illinois Congresswoman. What is going on with the Federal Government hiring mercenaries not only for deployment abroad but also here at home? Is this a way of doing dirty work indirectly kind of like was done in Central America and elsewhere under the Reagan Admin? Only this time it seems much more bold. Frankly it scares the hell out of me and seems like it should be from some novel or movie about futuristic totalitarianism instead of being real and here and now! Thanks.
I also took the liberty of going to the Blackwater website and discovered, perhaps not shockingly, a chilling statement about its core values. "Blackwater lives its core values of excellence, efficiency, execution, and teamwork". That sounds nice if you're UPS or FedEX, but very chilling if you have lots of guns and lots of license and leeway sanctioned by the Government.
I would encourage folks to view the video, and if you find it at least credible enough to follow-up on, to do so by writing Congress as I did. |
