Schuette is the perfect example of why so many folks are turned off by politics. I mean, he's right out of central casting. He's the dude that's basically been floating around from one government job to the other for years and accomplishing little but demagoguery.

It was hard to imagine someone more useless and more partisan than Mike Cox...and then Bill Schuette showed up. Gretchen, are you listening?

Didn't you get the memo? Everything originates from the president, and he masterminds and controls even the most minute details of his dictatorial and tyrannical government. Every action of the federal government is designed to push his socialistic agenda on an unsuspecting America--unsuspecting, that is, except for guys like Henry and these teabagging patriots. It's a conspiracy involving hundreds, if not thousands, of government bureaucrats.

If they weren't, they'd have taken this to the legislature where they have complete control. I don't douobt for a minute that they could have got this passed in the legislature, so the entire point of this was to get done what the legislature would have done, but not have to adhere to open meetings act rules and the like, which would have tipped off any sentient being concerned about public education.

You don't name something a skunk works because you're trying to do it out in the open.

And, yeah, I once was part of a group of people looking to create a 501(c)3 and was told that the entire process might take a couple of years. Naturally, I assumed it was because the president had it in for me, personally.

Quick clarification: Jim's group was applying for 501c3 designation, not c4, which makes the delay in approving his application much less noteworthy. His main purpose was to make sure folks who donated to his group got tax write-offs for doing so.

Timing and campaign effort of an initiative campaign to repeal Article I section 25 and institute SSM will be a production of Equality Michigan, Freedom to Marry, and the Human Rights Campaign, and I trust them to be out to win this thing rather than just toss it on the ballot and hope for the best. The latter sounds like it would be a tactical move by the MDP to keep the issue hanging around for years as a turnout tool, and if that happened it would sour the relationship between the MDP and LGBTs for years to come.
