Mr. Perks from out of town?

by: Eric B.

Wed Sep 19, 2007 at 14:14:53 PM EDT

I'm told that if you go around to the backside of Mr. Perks, you'll see that he's on a trailer with Montana license plates.  And, if you follow the money all the way to the top, you'll find a guy named Howard Rich.

Mr. Perks, in fact, appears to be a very well traveled pig.

piggity piggy

You are free to hold out the possibility that the big foam pig is actually one of many, that there are legion of these huge swine running loose (Hogzilla!).  However, do not get mired in the details of the pig.  The pig itself is not important, but only a symbol of an idea that isn't nearly as homegrown or grass roots as we've been led to believe, and funded by one guy who lives in Chicago.

P.S.  We are awaiting a photo of the license plate from Michigan Liberal operatives, and are aware that, to counteract the possibility of this getting loose to the public, that the license plates are now removed.

Update!  Oh noes, Mr. Perks, say it ain't so.

More updates ... below the fold!

Eric B. :: Mr. Perks from out of town?
Mr. Perks is a homegrown hog, apparently, using Michigan as its base of operations ... before being outsourced to campaigns in other states!
HINOJOSA: And then, just last week: the judge ruled on the petitions case. Citing a "pervasive and general pattern and practice of fraud... perpetrated by paid, out-of-state ... signature gatherers" he ruled that the three initiatives should be removed from Montana's ballot. Trevis Butcher is appealing... And it turns out that even the central icon for the Montana campaign - Willy the pig - is also from out of state. Seems that Willy came from Michigan. Here he is painted up with a different logo, promoting a different Howard-Rich initiative.

Why, yes, Willy is really Mr. Perks, the foam pig Leon Drolet has been using to menace lawmakers!

And ... what's that? ... paid for with out-of-state money?  The same money that was helping to fund last year's "Drown government in a bathtub" ballot initiative ... and was instrumental in giving us the term limits that have proven so disasterous to the state today and helped put Tim Walberg in Congress.  Thanks a bunch, Howie!  Your out-of-state money is leaving a legacy that Michigan's children will still be feeling when they have kids of their own.

Outstanding... in a field! (4.00 / 2)
Great pick up Eric!  I had an "up close and personal" encounter with Mr. Perks yesterday when some chicken friends of mine gathered at the Capitol building to let Republican legislators know that we think they are a bunch of dumb clucks for not raising taxes and protecting our children, resources and safety.

Is it any wonder the House started smelling like a barnyard over the weekend?  You have a gigantic pig out front, a bunch of chickens sitting on the Republican side of the aisle and now there's a big ole sheep from Russia who wants to arm teachers in classrooms.

Do stupid people know they are stupid?

Good work (1.00 / 6)
Great reporting. Very hard hitting. But really Mr. Perks isn't all that bad. It's not like he is a governor in the United States of America from a totally different country... like say... Canada for example. Just a thought.

Nice Try Leon (4.00 / 2)
But you're still busted.

Right you are (1.00 / 6)
You are so correct in assuming that Leon is the only one who knew the governor is Canadian; therefore, it could have only been Leon who posted the thread. Your intuition is about as accurate as Joey Harrington touchdown pass attempt. Keep up the good detective work you sly fox you.

Why does it matter? (4.00 / 2)
I was born in Lansing, MI.  The Governor was born in Canada.  I've spent my professional life helping low income families.  She's spent her professional life serving the people of Michigan.  It doesn't matter where you are born, it matters what you do with the rest of your life.

And, um, when did it become politically correct to bash our neighbors to the North?

Do stupid people know they are stupid?

Sorry to hurt your feelings (4.00 / 1)
I was only defending Mr. Perks. This blog seems that it is important to point out where Mr. Perks is from. But you are completely correct. It shouldn't matter if Mr. Perks is from Wisconsin, Montana or even Canada. The point is, he is spending his professional life in Michigan right now. This blog is the one who seems to think where you are from is important. I was only pointing out that this should be a equal opportunity state.

Leon and the piglets (4.00 / 3)
Ok, so you're not Leon, just one of his piglets. Glad you could create an account to come here and respond on that specific topic. Oink! Oink!

My bologna has a first name.....n/t :) (4.00 / 2)

Putting conservatives in charge of our government makes about as much sense as GM hiring a CEO who hates cars.
