| I think congratulations are in order to the McCain campaign for scheduling a visit to Michigan ... the same day as the primary election. I was just whipping through all of the state's papers to update the News Ticker at the top of the page, and I found maybe one story in all of them about McCain's visit to the Fermi II Nuclear Power Plant today. Yesterday, basically everyone topped their sites with news about Obama's speech in Lansing yesterday; and last night at the local saloon, a patron and the manager were talking about how he'd visited Lansing on his birthday, which means it was at least some kind of water cooler talk. I'm sure there will be more coverage later in the day, plus actual stories tomorrow, but all of that will play second fiddle to results from today's election. And if Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick gets the boot, it'll be like he didn't step foot in this state this week. Again, congrats to the McCain people for skillful and shrewd management of the news cycle. |
