Polls are set to close in about half an hour.  If you're curious about who's won what primaries for Michigan's state House, this is the place to be.  Here is a general idea of races we're watching tonight.  Also, this is the place where you'll get updated info on the 4th Appeals Court race.

Baldwin (R)     455
Moore (R)       951

Nendorf (D)     318

Few Battle Creek precincts have come in yet.  Most of Moore's support is coming in from the rural precincts, so perhaps Baldwin might cut into his lead.

Segal and Moore to face off in Nov.  Note that the combined Dem vote was greater than the GOP vote-good news for the general.

4th Appeals (4.00 / 1)
So far, with results mostly coming in from the Upper Peninsula, Manderfield and Kelly well out ahead.  Good news, that.

Among the Trees

both way ahead (0.00 / 0)
and will win in Manistee and Leelanau Counties. Looks like an interesting GE.

"Kill the headlights and put it in neutral..."

[ Parent ]
Howell (4.00 / 1)
took a ton of votes away from Doster...in fact, Doster trails Howell in almost every county.

What does this say about Little Dicky's control of the Michigan Republican party?

Can we say Republican civil war?

Kelly was winning Ingham handily over Manderfield, that's her home turf...real surprise that!

[ Parent ]
Ripple effect... (4.00 / 1)
Just remember that Kevin Elsenheimer stole what would have been a chief source of amusement for us this summer when he backed out of the 4th Appeals race to run again for the 105th District, and prompting Dennis Lennox to withdraw from the race.

Oh the fun we could have had!

Ingham (4.00 / 1)
Over at the Ingham.org site, they have Manderfield carrying Ingham County with over 65% of the county's vote.

Ken Yonker 4,010 35%

Kudos to Kentwood et al for bringing an end to the Steil era and electing a Ron Paul Republican.

51st District GOP Primary (4.00 / 1)
Its a nail biter here:

STATE LEGISLATURE 51ST DISTRICT (80% of precincts reporting):
GOP
Vince Lorraine   1,067   22.78
Paul Scott       1,832   39.12

DEM
Thomas J. McGee    620   18.49
Michael J. Thorp 2,297   68.49

Looks like Thorp will face off against Scott or Swenor.  We'll report on the GOP race as more results come in.

Peter Bratt's friend ahead in Genesee (4.00 / 1)
In the 51st:

Vince Lorraine.  .  .  .  .  .  .  .  .     1,067   22.78

District 37 (4.00 / 1)

GOP Primary:
Richard Lerner      1,485   33.48
Michael A. Peters     625   14.09
Paul Welday         2,312   52.13

Welday will face off against Vicki Barnett.  Think of a proxy battle between Knollenberg and Peters, as each candidate for this house seat has close ties with the US House candidates for the 9th district.

Andy Coulouris spanks Sangster (4.00 / 1)
in the 95th...looks like our candidate against Roger Kahn is doing well...

Too bad Roger...be afraid...be very very afraid!

and this one:

Just kidding... That last one isn't a photoshop. That's actually Ray Franz's campaign sign!

I figured it might as well say "Bush Republican" though, so I went ahead and fixed it for him. :-)

Just so ya'all know (4.00 / 2)
If Ray Franz were to win this seat he will probably be the most conservative right wingnut in the State House. He will make current 101 Rep. David Palsrock look like a flaming liberal.

The end of the human race will be that it will eventually die of civilization.

Thanks to Nazgul, I've found some more data:

Dem Primary:
Baldinelli   319
Burgess     1580
Nerat       1912
Polzin       419

Nerat wins the right to challenge for the seat again, this time against GOPer Mike Falcon

Scott wins the 51st District GOP primary (4.00 / 1)
Final results from the 51st GOP primary:

Paul Scott          2,935   41.42%
James B. Swenor     2,684   37.88%

Scott vs. Thorp this fall.  The GOP will welcome Scott's fund raising ability.

Still waiting on the 1st and 23rd district Dem Primaries from Wayne County.

1st District (4.00 / 1)
I can't find the data, but the Freep is reporting that Bledsoe is leading Poynter.  I'm finding this hard to believe, but until I get some data, I'm not calling anything.

1st District Dem Primary and 23rd Dstrict (4.00 / 1)
From the Detroit News:
39 of 45 Precincts Reporting - 87%
Bledsoe , Timothy Dem 4,876 55%
Poynter , Kenneth Dem 3,320 38%
Ruedemann , Edward Dem 299 3%
Diebel , Ronald Dem 293 3%

Bad news for the Dem Lansing leadership.  The handpicked candidate (Poynter) is falling to the underfunded Bledsoe, who gets another chance to run for the seat.

From Western Wayne County:
State House - District 23 - Dem Primary
Michigan - 45 of 52 Precincts Reporting - 87%
Name Party Votes Vote %
Kennedy , Deb Dem 2,328 31%
Adkins , Burl Dem 1,840 25%
Beaubien , Jim Dem 1,588 21%
Cronin , John Dem 1,389 19%
Chapman , J. Forrest Dem 313 4%

State House - District 23 - GOP Primary

Name Party Votes Vote %
DeBlois , Neil GOP 742 40%
Garza , J. GOP 710 38%

Close for the GOP, Kennedy will await the winner.
