Election night open thread

UPDATE:  CBS  DECLARES THE ELECTION FOR OBAMA.  Yes we can.  Yes we did.

Major hat tip and high props to Matt for following his wife's example in endorsing Obama.  Thank God someone had a clue. (update by JPowers155)

Good people ... we're winning and winning big.  Right now, according to the Freep, Hathaway is up big, which is more than I really ever expected.  Obama is going to win, the when and how is a matter of time.  Once the West Coast comes in, McCain's hash is settled.

Talk, revel, enjoy in comments.

Update! ... Freep says Prop. 1 wins.  Hippies crush Bill Schuette.

Update 2: Detroit News says Prop 2 passes, thank you to all for your support!!! (-by Liberal Lucy)

Hathaway (4.00 / 5)
Hathaway is beating Cliff Taylor even in rural western Washtenaw County.  Cumulatively in the county, she's up 52-38 percent, and we haven't heard from Ann Arbor or other urban areas yet.

This is fucking awesome... (4.00 / 1)
This is the one race in Michigan that was a "dare to dream" race for me.  I'll be mildly disappointed if she winds up losing, but if she wins...

Get a load of this (4.00 / 1)
In Canton Township, with almost three-quarters of the votes counted, Hathaway leads Taylor by 50%-38%. That margin has stood up all evening.

A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always count on the support of Paul.

Hathaway up statewide... (4.00 / 2)
75,000 votes.

If this holds, or even gets bigger, and ends up in a Hathaway win ... oh emm gee.

Incumbent trial judges never lose, much less SC judges.

Thank you, Mr. Feiger for helping with those ads.

From the Detroit News.

Chief Justice Clifford Taylor of the Michigan Supreme Court has conceded defeat to his challenger, Democratic nominee Diane Hathaway.

"It looks like she's won," Taylor told The Detroit News in a telephone interview at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. "It looks pretty conclusive."

Just incredible (4.00 / 1)
What a turnout and what a result!

Finally, some fairness from the Michigan Supreme Court.

Peters and Schauer are both winning. (4.00 / 2)
In Oakland County, Peters is stomping a mudhole in Knollenberg, and only the Republican areas have been counted thus far.

Scripps and Garnet Lewis (4.00 / 1)
I am in Lexington Kentucky any numbers?

Here's what we've got... (4.00 / 2)

Scripps looks like a win.  Lewis is too close to call.

I'm keeping the faith in the 98th til the last vote is counted.  Hate cannot prevail.

Do stupid people know they are stupid?

Garnet here in the 98th (4.00 / 4)
Sorry gang!  Not able to pull it off up here in the 98th.  But, so EXCITED about President Obama, and Judge Hathaway, and Dan Scripps and Dian Slavens......on and on!  What an election!!!!

I'm so proud of you. (4.00 / 2)
You ran an amazing race.  You are woman with whom to be reckoned.  Thanks for the opportunity to be part of your campaign.

Northern results (0.00 / 0)
Northern results are mixed.  Kathy Wilton 97 and Garnet Lewis 98 sadly appear lost.  Judy Nerat 108 is a win.  Neumann 106 looks like he will pull off a tight win as will Scripps 101 although there is still a ways to go on Scripps.

Wow on Hathaway and Prop. 1!

Scripps and Neumann (0.00 / 0)
Scripps and Neumann pull away with it!  Garnet sadly is a loss.

[ Parent ]
I'm just... (4.00 / 2)
so very sad beyond words.  We may not have won but we kept the faith and dammit, she's amazing.  It's a huge loss for the 98th to have someone's brother buy them an election.  )@#($*)@#*$()@#*$)@#(*$)

From a highly placed source... (4.00 / 2)

Looks like the Repugs are writing off HD 01, HD24, DH32, DH39, DH62, DH70, HD 101 and D108.    They are also seriously concerned about H21, HD51, HD61, HD78 and HD41.  Sorry... I have to stop typing now.  EricB keeps trying to toast and I can't type with a beer in one hand.

Do stupid people know they are stupid?

OBAMA WINS (4.00 / 2)
CNN is projecting Obama as the next President of the United States.

"Kill the headlights and put it in neutral..."
