| In this presidential year of 2012, 902 precinct delegates have been allotted throughout Kent County. Of that number, only 126 (13.6%) have filed in time to be printed on the primary ballots. It appears that not a single precinct in the County has a full delegation. People can still be precinct delegates in Kent County, by either (1) filing a notarized declaration of write-in candidacy with the local city or township clerk by 4:00 p.m. by this Friday, or (2) signing a write-in declaration at their voting precinct on the day of the election. Only 1 vote is needed to be elected as a precinict delegate. There will be a meeting at Aberdeen Park in Grand Rapids, on Aberdeen between Eastern and Diamond NE at 7:00 p.m. for those who are able to file by the Friday deadline. The only requirements are U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years old, and residency in the precinct. Remember to fill-in the bubble after writing your name in on primary day. For more information, or if you are unable to make it to the meeting tomorrow night, email politicog@yahoo.com. Also, we are looking for a commissioned notary that could donate about 45 minutes to notarize the documents. |
