He orchestrated Schmidt's last-minute conversion to the GOP to keep Democrats from being able to field a real candidate. Bolger said in Tampa he doesn't think the scandal will hurt his effectiveness as leader or cost the GOP control of the House.
The only organization on Earth that could incompetently make Jase Bolger an issue in House races around the state is the Democratic Party, so there is that. But, of course the scandal won't hurt his effectiveness as House Speaker. If the Republican Party functioned according to the normal rules of accountability, he'd have already lost his Speakership. But, that's not terribly important. What's important is party unity, ideology, and fealty to power. |
