| Dan Benishek and his views on climate change straight out of 2001. "I'm not sure how significant global warming is," he said during the debate. "I spent a lot of time in the sciences, and you know, I'm not exactly sure what's happening with the climate." This is exactly like saying, "I work in construction, so I spend time around electricians, and that has led me to conclude that it is perfectly safe for you to stick that butter knife in that there wall socket." I don't blame Benishek entirely, mind you. It's the way of his tribe. He's got enough problems with the Tea Party without giving them a reason to think he's a squish when it comes to the hard sciences. |
