I stole the photo to the left from a Facebook page dedicated to recalling Janice Daniels as mayor of Troy. Here, The Janice is engaged in that oldest of political sport ... removing campaign signs of the opponent. Except she's doing it in broad daylight and doing it herself instead of leaving the work to an unpaid intern. Such is the term of Michigan's most embarrassing local official (by contrast, she makes us rustics look like genial sophisticates).
A day out of her recall election, she picked up the honor of being named worst local official in southeast Michigan. I go to the announcement. Daniels tops this list because Troy’s part-time mayor is basically empowered to preside over the City Council, yet she’s managed to turn this modest role into a platform to make Troy a national laughingstock.
Me, I'm okay with recalling a local official who's found to believe that the document that outlines her job is "whimsical" and not worthy of her oath of office. But, that's just me. |
