| The state Legislature continues its degeneration to Russian parliament-level credibility as a law-making body. Lansing — Republican Rep. Jase Bolger of Marshall will remain speaker of the Michigan House for the next legislative session despite questions over his role in a vote-rigging scandal.
It ain't just questions, sunshine. Jase Bolger is currently under investigation by a grand jury into whether he and Mssr. Schmidt enticed their patsy to commit perjury. Merely being under investigation to conspire to perjure wasn't enough to convince the House Republican caucus to look elsewhere for leadership. By the way, in addition to trying to rig an election, in the last year Bolger also got caught flagrantly violating the clear language of the Constitution by gaveling into Immediate Effect bills that hadn't met the clear requirements to do so. I now await, in response to the news that the House Speaker stands accused of election rigging and violating the state constitution, the recoiling in horror from the Very Serious Person set who tut-tutted Proposals 2-6 on the grounds that we couldn't muddy up a sacred document like the state constitution. Much of this could have been predicted, by the way. After all, this was the guy who in the late 90s had a series of state and federal tax liens filed against his business. But, no one was terribly interested in that. |
