| Congressional Republicans made it their purpose to make Barack Obama a one-time president, so they gummed up the works in Washington to deny him as much movement on his agenda as possible. It failed, and Obama won a second term and they lost their opportunity to repeal "Obamacare" outright. That job now falls to legislative chambers in the states. Having failed to repeal the Affordable Care Act at the national level, Republicans are now dedicating their efforts to botching its implementation at the state level. And having failed to invalidate the law at the Supreme Court, they’re now seeking alternate legal avenues to weaken its regulations.
Both sides do it, of course, even when they aren't. It would be nice to see more of the state's remaining political media outlets take to task House Republicans for carrying out the failed attempt by Congressional Republicans to obstruct a federal law that was upheld by the Supreme Court. It really just does amount to prioritizing partisan advantage to doing the work they're supposed to. |
