| The Detroit News has an editorial today advising the Legislature to skip nonsense that doesn't need to be addressed and instead focusing on what needs to be done, like indigent justice and a health care exchange. To their list, I'd add making it harder for homosexuals to adopt children. Children need loving parents of any stripe, and especially more than they need to be cycled through 18 years of "the system." They certainly don't need the people adopting them out to be allowed to discriminate on a potential parent's sexual orientation. The big matzo ball they left out, of course, was Right to Work. That, I understand, will come up next week in the Senate. The Legislature needs to be focusing on stuff that makes the state better, not an interpretation of this month's election results reached by gross overreach. |
