| Benevolent overlord Rick Michigan is not so sure that diluting the Pure Michigan tourism logo to pimp Right to Work was the right thing to do. LANSING -- Gov. Rick Snyder criticized an ad Monday that the Michigan Economic Development Corp. placed in the Wall Street Journal touting Michigan's passage of controversial right-to-work legislation above the Pure Michigan logo as a way to lure business to the state. It was the first time Snyder directly addressed the furor over the full-page Jan. 8 ad. He gave a mild critique when asked whether it was a mistake. "I would not have been emphasizing one issue the way it was emphasized in that ad," Snyder said after a luncheon speech at the Lansing Center. "I would have preferred it had had a much broader definition" of what makes Michigan a desirable place to locate a business, Snyder said.
They've been doing this for two years, he says. In other words, they took a successful brand name identified with the intangible goods of Michigan's natural resources and applied it to the mundane stuff of making money. Babbit Nation wins again. |
