| Quick history of how purposeful government decision making combined with cheap hydrocarbon energy led to the proliferation of the internal combustion engine vehicle that made Michigan an industrial powerhouse. In fact, all you need to know is that government at all levels made purposeful decisions to favor individual automobiles powered by government-subsidized hydrocarbon energy over other forms of transportation and that Michigan owes its historical source of wealth to it. This brings us to yesterday, where a Mackinac Center writer had a sad about electric car charging stations in Ann Arbor. Surely, Ann Arbor has better things to spend its money on than this. City resources would be better spent providing essential services to Ann Arbor residents, instead of funding pet projects that only the favored few can take advantage of.
