| Well, I guess it's safe to say that we're past the coldest part of the winter, which is statistically the third week of January. It's also a month after the shortest day of the year. And, that's just how the axial tilt and uneven heating and cooling of the planet plays out in our annual ballet called, "Four seasons." While you're chewing that piece of gristle over in your mind, I've got some links for you. *--Mark Schauer says that benevolent overlord Rick Michigan has broken his own bond of trust with Michigan voters. What's gone is gone, and can only be gotten back with a long, painful reconciliation. That, or they'll just rig the gubernatorial election in 2014 because at the end of the day that's a lot more fun than an honest competition of ideas. *--America's shoutiest mayor will again run for the office of America's shoutiest mayor. *--Daniel Howes, who recently wrote that we must invest in higher education to make Michigan economically strong, now says that Michigan is already economically strong thanks to tax cuts and a relaxed approach to regulation. Used to be that money raised through business taxes were used to help keep the costs of an education down, which meant lower debt loads for college students and ones properly educated for the workforce. That is apparently no longer an operating reality we live under. *--Michiganders like them some preschool. Meanwhile, the Lansing State Journal thinks we should invest more in higher education. *--Tim Skubick thinks that bipartisanship might not exist if Jase Bolger is charged with a crime. Let's get out ahead of that by saying that if this is the case, perhapsthe solution would have been to elect as House Speaker someone who wasn't under the cloud of a grand jury investigation for rigging an election. *--The Humane Society might try to put the wolf hunt on the next ballot. And, another... *--Bill Schuette asks for an airing of grievances against Diane Hathaway. |
