'Amway Guy Curse' continues to plague Tigers

by: matt

Thu Aug 31, 2006 at 18:10:07 PM EDT

With their loss to the Yankees today, the Detroit Tigers no longer have the best record in baseball (the Mets do). It's a fact, the Tigs have not been the same since the Amway Guy made his lame visit to Comerica Park on August 8. Just look at the numbers:
Tigers W-L average, 8/7/06 (before Amway Guy visit): .678

Tigers W-L average today: .619

Here's the really scary part...

Of the 22 games played since their brush with Amway Guy, the Tigers have won only 7!

This gives the Tigers a post-Amway Guy W-L average of .318!!!

Calculations based on data from ESPN
It's time to round up as many priests, rabbis, imams, shamans, the Ghostbusters - and Governor Granholm, have them go down to Comerica Park and break this Amway Guy curse once and for all! Hurry before it's too late! We're still 4 games in first, but taking on water fast!

Could piles and piles of money or an army of evil clones help?

Oh god, this is too funny.

Go read it, you'll see.  Meanwhile, The Head owes me a clean keyboard and monitor.

Know anyone who sells cleaning supplies?

Eartha, while my equally impressive army of lawyers and accountants won't allow me to pay taxes, much less for some communist's computer, I do have some literature that I believe you will find very interesting. I'll just leave it here on the shelf.

Sing the Baseball *ahem Devos Curse song! (4.00 / 3)
From an LSJ letter to the editor:

"Hey baseball fans! We all are painfully aware of how Dick DeVos jinxed the Detroit Tigers. They lost five games straight after he visited the ballpark in a lame attempt to sway voters to his side.

It's time to sharpen those pencils and write your own lyrics about the DeVos jinx to the tune of "Take me out to the ball game."

For example...

Take me out to the Tigers
but leave the DeVos jinx home.

Last time he showed up they lost five straight.
Think what will happen if he runs this state!

So its vote, vote, vote for the governor.
She's smart, she's tough and she's strong!

And the Tigers will win, again and again!
Long as DeVos stays home!"

Let's use the Amway guy curse to help our sports team (0.00 / 0)
Let's send Dick to every home city of the teams the Lions will face this year.

Great idea, spaceman! (0.00 / 0)
The boys at CHUDD said to say thanks. Here's how the curse of Dick Devos was able to beat the New York Yankees.

I think the song is a GREAT IDEA. Let's get to work on it!
