I just got an anti-Granholm robo-call

by: louise the dog

Tue Oct 03, 2006 at 11:28:11 AM EDT

(From the diaries. Guess they think if they buy enough robocalls it will be enough to paper over Amway Guy's miserable perfromance last night. Thanks Louise! - promoted by matt)

I was folding my laundry when the phone rang.  It was a robo-call in a woman's voice talking about how "disappointed" she was in Granholm's performance of the debate last night.  The tone was supposed to sound like she was a Granholm supporter who "just felt let down."  There was no mention of DeVos, no mention of who paid for the call, the Caller ID said "Unknown Caller."  Unfortunately, I wasn't at my answering machine or I would have taped it.

The vast majority of voters who never saw the debate would have no basis to doubt the caller's points.  Has any one else gotten this call?  I am in the Grand Rapids area.

... and I am eternally grateful for that right now.

Did they actually use the word "disappointed"?

That's disappointing.

Disappointed was in the call a couple of times..how sad (4.00 / 2)

There. I didn't want to talk to anybody anyway. ;-)

robo-calls are such a dinosaur tactic. (4.00 / 2)
I just hang up when they call, no matter who is doing the calling.  When they miracle themselves onto my voicemail, it's always halfway through so I don't even know what they want.

Everyone else I know does the same thing, too.

Putting conservatives in charge of our government makes about as much sense as GM hiring a CEO who hates cars.

Seems like they would irritate... (4.00 / 1)
... far more people than they would ever persuade. I don't get it.

I wish campaigns were forced to release the transcripts of what was being said.

They are cheap (0.00 / 0)
That's why campaigns use them all the time. I don't like them, and would refuse to use them if I ever run for office.

Personally, I think they cost more votes then gain.

I live in Grand Blanc (4.00 / 1)
and I got the same call.

Still... (4.00 / 1)
... Nothing beats the robocalls from the "concerned Asian American" who thought the China accusations from the Granholm camp were racist.

I got two in the SAME day. (4.00 / 1)
If they are looking to influence people, this seems to be counterproductive.

Albert Abbasse, 28th SD candidate received the call at home (4.00 / 1)
Speaking of Robo-calls being a monumental waste of money... The DeVos campaign doesn't even filter their calls to exclude Democratic party loyalists, or even candidates.  In fact, I believe that the calls only went to identified Democrats.  I heard the message, it is on his answering machine... I agree with an earlier post that it is meant to sound like a Democrat who is disappointed with Granholm, attempting to cast doubt in the Democratic supporter.  Either way... the call was as creepy as the DICK looked last night.
